About Kat Macmillan

Kavita Kat Macmillan is a yoga instructor, musician & performer with a deep study of Indian Classical vocal music and love for Kirtan & chanting. Kat brings over 19 years of yogic teaching, sharing kirtan & study of nada (sound) yoga to her classes, and participates in Kirtan & yoga festivals and holds workshops and retreats Internationally.   

Kavita has studied & practiced extensively in NYC, Los Angeles and India. Certified to teach yoga in New York city, Kavita trained with some of the top yoga teachers in the West notably Sharon Gannon & David Life, Erich Shiffman, Mark Whitwell, Alison West, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Kevin Gardner and others.  Kavita currently studies Hindustani music with internationally acclaimed vocalist & composer Warren Senders (New England Conservatory.)  Kavita's current Kirtan devotional music offering "Open Heart Kirtan" is call and response chanting of traditional mantras in updated compositions inspired by Western and Indian music.  

Kavita’s involvement in yoga and music have given her the opportunity to play and share the stage regularly with great Kirtan musicians including Gina Sala & Daniel Paul, Dave Stringer, Steve Gorn, Jaya Lakshmi & Ananda, Johanna Beekman, Bhagavan Das, Saul David Raye & The Hanuman Project among others.  She recently released her first studio recording, the single “Take My Hand” co produced by Ben Leinbach and featuring accompanying vocals from Jai Uttal.  Kavita is a nurturing guide for those who are interested in exploring this path.

About Daniel Paul 

Daniel is an India Fulbright Award winning tabla drummer and graduate of the Ali Akbar College of Music who for three decades has been accompanying many of today’s top kirtan singers on the international kirtan chanting circuit.  From his long association accompanying Grammy nominee Jai Uttal and the exotic global vocalist Gina Salá, Daniel has also toured South America backing the soft prayers of Snatam Kaur and throughout North America contributing to the rocking chants of Dave Stringer and the Guru Ganesha Band.
